Michigan Shelter President Facing 10 Years After Stolen Donation Allegations
A Michigan man is facing up to 10 years in prison for stealing money meant for an animal shelter.

63-year-old Andrew Valentine was arrested by the Michigan State Police on June 10th and charged with one felony count of larceny by conversion: $20,000 or more.
The worst part about this crime is that Valentine is the president of the Mackinac Animal Aid Association.

The Michigan State Police (MSP) St. Ignace Post shared on social media that they had received a report that a person with Mackinac County Animal Shelter was suspected of taking money intended for the shelter.
Investigators say Valentine took more than $20,000 in donations intended for the shelter and redirected it to another nonprofit organization called the Mackinac Animal Aid Association.
As of right now, that's all the information that has been shared.
I've always been surprised that people who steal or embezzle money do it, given how hard it is to get away with it thanks to modern technology and the ways AI can audit systems.
Regardless of whether the stolen money was used for the Mackinac Animal Aid Association, or if Valentine used it for his own personal use, the fact remains that he stole it from another animal shelter which, it's safe to assume, desperately needed that money.
