This is surprising news, as Fox 17 reports that Art Van Furniture is closing all of its stores and liquidating all remaining inventory

According to a statement from a company spokesperson, the closing comes as the furniture company struggles in the challenging retail environment.

From Fox 17,

"Despite our best efforts to remain open, the Company's brands and operating performance have been hit hard by a challenging retail environment," said Diane Charles, Art Van Furniture spokesperson. "We recognize the extraordinary retail, community and philanthropic legacies that Art Van Furniture has built for decades in the community."

According to Fox 17, liquidation sales will start Friday, March 6th at all Art Van furniture stores as well as Art Van PureSleep and Scott Shuptrine Interiors stores in the five states they have stores. Art Van Furniture has been in business since they opened in metro Detroit in 1959.
