Bird Hatches After His Egg Glued Back Together
Which came first, the bird or the egg the Detroit Zoo keepers had to glue together to save a baby spoonbill?
I didn't even know this was even possible. Zookeepers at the Detroit Zoo came across an egg accidentally damaged by the spoonbill parents.
They repaired using Elmer's glue in a hopeful effort to save the baby bird inside, which hadn't quite developed yet.
To their surprise, the baby bird emerged from the repaired egg with little problems and was named Elmer, of course.
This all happened back in 2006 -- and Elmer's still out there thumping today.
