Now, it wasn't because the temps have been crazy cold and allowing the snow to stay (it's been well above freezing lately). It's all because a ski resort has decided to keep its slopes (or at least just one) open for as long as possible this season.

Boyne Mountain Resort, located in Boyne Falls, Michigan, is popular with skiers and snowboarders across the state. Normally, their season ends when the temperatures start getting warmer. But this year, they've been on a bit of a quest to keep their slopes open for as long as they can.

Michigan's Boyne Mountain Resort Offered Skiing on Mother's Day

Over the weekend, Boyne Mountain Resort offered up free skiing to moms on Mother's Day. And you'd think that it was them trying to be funny, seeing as how the snow has melted throughout most of the state. But Boyne has been keeping the snow-fun going as the temperatures heat up.

In fact, this weekend they still had plenty of snow left for folks to enjoy.

So, the folks at Boyne Mountain invited all of their friends and fans out to enjoy skiing and snowboarding in a warmer climate over the weekend. And the turnout was impressive.

People decked out in full snow gear were there, but also some who were enjoying the warmer temps and paired their boots with shorts and t-shirts.

Some even dressed for the occasion in Hawaiian shirts and leis.

Frankly, an idea for next year, Boyne Mountain, you should have a full-on luau on Mother's Day weekend if the weather and snow allow.

It seems that Boyne plans to keep Victor Glacier open for as long as they can, with their goal being to remain open until Memorial Day.

One local skier, Priscilla from Cadillac, actually returned to the mountain on Monday, May 12, to reenact a photo of her that was taken back in 1996.

I'm not a skier, and I'll be honest, I kind of want to make my way up to Boyne just to experience the magic that is mid-May skiing in Michigan.
