History might just be made in West Michigan next month, and all it takes is a little cake and a lot of community spirit.

Consumers Credit Union and Nothing Bundt Cakes are teaming up once again to try and break the record for the World’s Largest Cake Walk and this time, they’re calling on 700 people to help them make it happen.

The record-breaking attempt is set for Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Special Olympics Michigan Unified Sports and Inclusion Center in Byron Center.

So what’s at stake besides bragging rights? Each participant will walk away with a coupon for a free bundtlet from Nothing Bundt Cakes, plus chances to win extra prizes throughout the day.

Most importantly, proceeds from the event will support Special Olympics Michigan athletes and the Mental Health Foundation of West Michigan’s be nice. program. These two causes directly impact inclusion, acceptance, and mental health support in the community.

Organizers say this event is about more than cake. It’s about giving people a reason to gather, support one another, and celebrate athletes and families in West Michigan.

And with the timing right at the start of a new school year (a season that can be tough for many), the event is designed to be a lighthearted and uplifting way to show community support.

The fun starts at 10 am with carnival-style activities like a DJ, inflatables, and food trucks, before the main event kicks off at 11:30 am.

Don’t worry- you don’t have to pay an admission to get in. Pre-registration is encouraged so organizers can plan for the crowd. If you’ve ever wanted to be part of a Guinness World Record, this is your chance. (And you’ll be helping a great cause while doing it.)
