It's been nearly a two and a half year battle with COVID, and more than a year and half since the vaccine was available. Of course, this virus is a moving target and boosters have been developed to keep us safe. They have done their job, too. Fewer hospitalizations and deaths,

And now, we are adjusting to a new variant, so, out comes another booster. So, the question is, when will it be available, and where can I get it?

Yesterday was the day, Wednesday, September 7, when pharmacies around the country were to receive the doses of Moderna and Pfizer.

Moderna’s omicron-specific booster is approved for adults 18 and up while Pfizer's has been green-lit for people 12 and up, and both are available to people as long as it’s been 2 months since their last booster.

Both Walgreen's and CVS should have the new shots available so check with your local pharmacy and schedule an appointment.

This is always a debatable subject, getting vaccinated. Personally I think you should, but understand that it is a very personal thing to many people. What I hope is we avoid another uptick in infections, possible hospitalizations and even deaths in the winter months when we're spending so much time indoors rather out in the fresh air.

Oh, by the way, national health leaders say fighting against COVID is likely to become an annual to-do thing starting this fall with vaccinations, just as the flu is.

Well, the good news is, that is why we have two arms, one for the COVID vaccine and one for the Flu vaccine.
