Unexpected Gift Helps Grieving West Michigan Teen Find Hope
When someone you care about passes away it's one of the most devastating things that you will ever experience in your life.

As a kid, I remember being really sad when my grandpa died, but the hardest loss I've ever experienced happened when I was 21 and my father died after suffering a brain aneurysm.
A few hours earlier that day, he called me, and since I was busy with work, I told him I had to call him back. Unfortunately, I never got that chance. While my grief has lessened as the years have passed, there are still moments when I feel immense sadness and miss him dearly.
Recently, a West Michigan teen lost his mom unexpectedly. When that happened, his friends, family, and community members all came together to show him love and support in his time of need.

A GoFundMe was started for Isaiah.
Phyllis Lubbert, who cares for a man named Phil whose health is declining, became aware of the fundraiser and told him about it.
Phil then decided to donate his 20-year-old car to Isaiah so he could drive to school for his senior year.
Isaiah spoke with WZZM 13 about how much this support means to him:
"I feel so blessed in my heart that so many people care. I mean, my mother meant so much to me, and obviously there's nothing in this world that I could ever have that could compare to the loss of my mother, but it definitely does help me feel like I'm standing on my feet."
