Scammers Wanted $700,000 in Real Gold. This West Michigan Police Trap Paid Them in Chocolate Coins Instead
You have to love when the bad guys get exactly what they deserve.

That's what happened to a scammer trying to rip off an Ottawa County widow.
The woman got a call from a man telling her that her Social Security number was involved in terrorism and money laundering activities.
The scammer then told her that she needs to buy $700,000 in gold fast so the police can "track the bad guys."
The would-be victim actually drove to Grand Rapids Coins on 10 Mile Road to wire the cash. But the owner, Ben Soldaat, realized something was off.

He noticed that the woman was really stressed out and seemed to be in a hurry, so Ben decided to call the Kent County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) to get them involved.
Now here is where the story gets really good because the would-be scammers are about to get scammed themselves.
The KCSO went to the woman's house, where the scammers kept on calling her trying to set up a drop-off location.
Instead of sending her to meet up with the scammers, an undercover detective did their best Mrs. Doubtfire impression, and dressed up like an old lady and went to meet the scammer at a donut shop.
Instead of the $700,000 in real gold they requested, the bag for the scammers contained a bunch of chocolate gold coins.
The 20-year-old man who drove all the way from Illinois to pick up the money got tackled by the cops instead.
The man identified as Yug B. Chauhan is now sitting in the Kent County jail facing some serious felonies that could put him away for 20 years.
It's nice for a change to share a story about some scammers getting exactly what they deserve.
