A beloved Detroit Lions player just shared with the world that his playing days in the NFL have come to an end.

When he made the announcement, he poked fun at a recent play that Lions fans will never forget.

Detroit Lions offensive lineman Dan Skipper announced that it was time for him to “report” as retired.

The joke that he was reporting as retired comes from a memorable moment where the Detroit Lions came back against the Dallas Cowboys a couple of seasons ago and after scoring a Touchdown Coach Campbell decided to go for a 2 point conversion that would win the game for the Lions.

During the 2-pt attempt Lions tackle Taylor Decker reported as an eligible receiver for a go-ahead two-point conversion, but referees wrongly penalized him for illegal touching which ended up costing the Lions the game.

I'm bummed that Skipper is retiring, but hopeful that forces the Detroit Lions to focus on offensive line needs during this off season.

We have so many talented offensive players, but there’s no time for Goff to throw or holes opening up for Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery it's hard for the Lions to score like they did a few seasons back when they made it to the NFC Championship.
