Dirtbags Put the Opening of DirtBag Brewing In Jeopardy
West Michigan is the home of Beer City, USA, so our love of craft brews runs deep.
But unfortunately for one West Michigan brewery, some absolute jerks could have put the opening of an upcoming destination brewery into jeopardy. For the past seven years, on evenings, weekends, and days off, Ryan Long has been building his dream - DirtBag Brewing which is located along the Kal Haven trail in Gobles.
In a Facebook post on January 19th, the owners of Dirtbag Brewing posted an update sharing that they'd been vandalized overnight.
Our project that we have been working so hard to get the doors open, has been vandalized. It has been terribly vandalized and destroyed to say the least. Such a cowardly and non sense destruction! They broke and destroyed every window and door in the building. Almost 100 glass windows! The overhead doors were destroyed and beat. The damage is unbelievable.
And the damage really is heartbreaking.
It doesn't appear that someone has just broken in to steal items... they even broke random doors inside the building that hadn't been installed. This feels like it was just an act of cruelty...
How can I help Dirtbag Brewing recover after this damage?
Thankfully, there are good folks out there, and a friend of the soon-to-be-brewery has started a gofundme to help them recoup some of the lost costs in damages.
There's also an additional fun way you can help them out on February 9th:
The Klassic Arcade 2.0 is dedicating a night to their friends and giving them all the proceeds from that night to help them try and recover. So, play some pinball and help out. They'll also be accepting additional donations on-site that evening if you're feeling extra generous.
Good luck to the owners of Dirtbag Brewing, and here's to hoping they are still able to make their goal of opening by summertime even after this setback.
