10 More Reasons Not To Move To Grand Rapids
If you missed my first article "10 Reasons Not To Move To Grand Rapids",
it was about a video that I found on YouTube that highlighted ten reasons not to move to Grand Rapids.
In the twelve-minute video, they highlighted why you might not want to live in Grand Rapids, complaints locals have, and things you might want to know before you move to Grand Rapids.
After seeing such a big reaction, my co-worker Wendy suggested I do ten more reasons not to move to Grand Rapids, but with my own twist.
After some deep thinking, this is what I've come up with.
10 MORE Reasons Not To Move To Grand Rapids
1. Too Much Craft Beer
Grand Rapids loves craft beer so much that they have been named "Beer City USA"
Some of the biggest breweries call G.R. home including:
Founders
Brewery Vivant
On top of that, there are so many popular breweries within a 45-minute - hour drive. If you don't like craft beer, don't move to Grand Rapids.
2. Multiple Sports Teams
Grand Rapids also has several sports teams that the locals love.
The Grand Rapids Griffins, who our an AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings, play downtown at the Van Andel Arena.
If you head north to Comstock Park, you'll find the West Michigan Whitecaps an affiliate of the Detroit Tigers playing at LMCU Ballpark.
3. Water Is Everywhere
The Grand River flows through downtown Grand Rapids.
You're also not that far away from Lake Michigan and its miles and miles of shoreline.
If you don't like being near water, then don't move to Grand Rapids.
4. So Much Snow
Grand Rapids averages 64 inches of snow per year, That's over five feet!
People in Grand Rapids embrace the snow and the cold by heading outdoors.
Some people like to go skiing or tubing at Cannonsburg.
While others like to skate at Rosa Parks Circle. If you don't want to be outdoors in the freezing cold all winter long then don't move to Grand Rapids.
5. Volunteering And Charity
If you don't like being around other people that enjoy helping out in the community, you should probably avoid Grand Rapids.
There are a lot of charities and non-profits in Grand Rapids
Some of the most well-known included Kids Food Basket, Van Andel Institue, and Mel Trotter Ministries.
6. Famous People
If you want to live in a town where people are not known around the world, then you should probably avoid Grand Rapids.
Former president Gerald R. Ford was raised in Grand Rapids.
Boxing champ Floyd Mayweather Jr. was born in Grand Rapids.
Taylor Lautner from Twilight was also born in G.R.

7. Wild Animals
If you don't want to see some of the world's most beautiful animals, then you shouldn't move to Grand Rapids.
The John Ball Zoo has some beautiful animals to check out, including:
Penguins
Tucans
Red Pandas
8. So Many Museums
Hate art and culture? Well, I hate to break it to you, but Grand Rapids has a lot of museums.
Grand Rapids Public Museum
Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum
Grand Rapids Art Museum
If you're not into history, learning, and art then don't move to Grand Rapids.
9. Tasty Places To Eat
Grand Rapids has way too many places that serve up good food.
Not only is there a good chance you'll go broke trying to eat it all,
you'll also have to worry about putting on weight from all the delicious dishes.
10. All The People Are Really, Really Nice
And not just 'West Michigan Nice' - TRULY nice! How can people be that happy all of the time? If you hate happiness/friendliness, Grand Rapids is not for you.
