Downtown Grand Rapids Is Getting A Farmer’s Market!
Plans for a downtown urban market have been in the works for more than a year now and it looks like it's going to happen!
I love shopping for fresh, local produce, don't you? There are tons of them throughout West Michigan (thankfully), but none in the heart of Grand Rapids.
Over the years, I've frequented the one on Fulton at College, but for anyone who lives or works downtown, the Urban Market will now be within walking distance.
This fall, the Downtown Development Authority will break ground at 435 Logan St. SW, sandwiched between Ionia and Wealthy, just east of U.S. 131.
If you look at the attached blueprints, you'll notice that there'll be parking for anyone who wants to come from out-of-town.
Among the produce there will be a kitchen demonstration area, meeting place and rooftop greenhouse! Doesn't it sound awesome? You, I can already taste the rippened strawberries and blueberries that are going to pass through there -- and can't you smell the kitchen delights too?
Take a minute and check out the plans and mark your calendar for opening day!
