Electric Forest Infant Tragedy: Reports Claim Baby Was Born Alive

The baby that was found dead on Sunday morning by a porta-potty cleaning crew at the Electric Forest Festival in Rothbury was alive and breathing, according to a report from WOOD-TV8 citing anonymous "sources".

A WOOD-TV8 source told them that the autopsy found fluid in the baby’s lungs and stomach.

They were also able to determine that the full-term infant was breathing at birth and was not a stillborn.

I, like many, am still trying to understand how the hell something like this could even happen.

We've all heard crazy stories about women who didn't even know they were pregnant until the baby was about to be born.

Even if this was the case in this tragic situation, how could someone leave a newborn baby to die inside of a nasty porta-potty?

I have to imagine that this woman didn't come to the festival by herself; how has nobody come forward yet saying that they know the woman in question?

Or if she didn't attend the Electric Forest Festival by herself, did nobody in her life notice that she is suddenly no longer pregnant?

The fact that the baby was born alive and breathing and that the mom still left it behind makes me so sad.

Even if she didn't know she was pregnant and had the baby and didn't want it, she could have safely and legally surrendered the newborn within three days, no questions asked.

Michigan's 'Safe Delivery' law says that a newborn may be given to a uniformed employee who is inside and on duty at any hospital, fire department, police station, or to an emergency medical technician or paramedic by calling 9-1-1.

The newborn will be placed for adoption. This program is safe, legal, and confidential.
