Ferris State Wins Another National Title, Becomes NCAA Scoring Record Holder
Ferris State football isn’t just having a moment; it’s already built a dynasty.
For the fourth time in the past five years, the Ferris State University Bulldogs are national champions. On Saturday night in McKinney, Texas, Ferris State took down Harding 42–21 to claim yet another NCAA Division II title.
With the win, Ferris State finished the season a perfect 16–0, becoming the first Division I or Division II football team in the modern era to pull that off, which is insane on top of their incredible record over the past few years.
During the game itself, the Bulldogs controlled things early with a punishing ground game and never really let Harding breathe. They ran the ball at will, scored repeatedly, and capitalized when Harding made mistakes. By halftime, Ferris State was already in control, and by the third quarter, it was clear who was leaving Texas with the trophy.
There were multiple long touchdown runs, a steady performance from quarterback Wyatt Bower, and defense that stepped up whenever Harding tried to make things interesting. Even when Harding briefly closed the gap, Ferris had an answer ready.
As if the championship and perfect season weren’t enough, Ferris State also capped the year by setting an all-time NCAA D1 or D2 scoring record, finishing with a staggering 844 points on the season.
They were welcomed back into town on Sunday with a well deserved celebration, as shared on the Ferris Athelthics social media
Call it a dynasty. Call it historic. Call it whatever you want. Just don’t call it a fluke. Ferris State football has made it very clear they’re not done yet.
