Oh, Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. When are these two crazy kids ever going to get together? There’s is a love story we can all relate to: she, the inexperienced college student and would-be journalist, and he, the millionaire Seattle playboy, looking for someone to educate in the ways of forbidden love. Would their shared appreciation for BDSM be enough to overcome their differences and help them find a happily ever after? I don’t know for sure, but based on this first teaser trailer for Fifty Shades Freed, I’m going to venture that the answer to that question is yes.

As Variety notes, we won’t see the full trailer for Fifty Shades Freed until this November, but this first teaser for the film seems to cover the basic points: Grey and Steele are getting married, still enjoying their softcore lifestyle, and still working to overcome some of the darkest elements of Grey’s complicated past. No word in the trailer on whether Steele’s journalism career is taking off, but if I had to venture a guess, I’d say that her Seattle publisher probably laid her off as part of a pivot to video. Now there’s something that truly get your pulse racing.

Oh, and if you’re wondering how Universal Pictures managed to make another Fifty Shades of Grey movie without you noticing, it’s because both sequels  —  this and Fifty Shades Darker  —  filmed back-to-back. These are, unsurprisingly, quite the little cash-cows for the studio: Fifty Shades of Grey grossed over $571 million dollars against a budget of $40 million back in 2015 and Fifty Shades Darker pulled in $378 million against a budget of $55 million. Even if franchise fatigue causes Fifty Shades Freed to drop down into the $200 million range, that’s still a tidy little profit for everyone involved.

Fifty Shades Freed will feature returning stars Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan, as well as Max Martini, Tyler Hoechlin, and Arielle Kebbel. The film will hit theaters on February 9, 2018.
