Chef Jenna Arcidiacono’s Amazing ‘Food Hugs’ Just Rescued Me After A Total Backyard Disaster
Last week when severe weather rolled through West Michigan the tree in my backyard decided to give up on itself and fall over to the ground.

In the process, my fence was crushed, and the backside of my house suffered some damage from the tree branches and limbs.
Thankfully it appears that most of it is cosmetic and not structural.
I'll have to find out the extent of the damage when our insurance agent comes out this week.
The biggest thing that shook me up was that my dogs Benny and Paddy were in the backyard when the tree came crashing down
Somehow they were not in the path of the tree as it came crashing down or they would be dead for sure.
For me that was the scariest part of the entire incident.
Later that night I posted some pictures and video on my social media and was blown away by how many friends, family and random strangers reached out to make sure we were ok.

I'm not proud to admit this, but I really struggle with getting help from someone because I never want to be a burden to anyone.
In reality, it's perfectly normal to have your friends and family be there for you in a time of need.
And that's what happened to me the other night.
I stepped out onto my front porch and saw a beautiful gift was left for me and Lindsey.
Someone had sent me a FOOD HUG.
A "Food Hug" is a free, home-cooked comfort meal delivered to someone who is going through a tough time or could just use a heavy dose of community love and a general pick-me-up.
It was started by Chef Jenna Arcidiacono, the owner and head chef of Amore Trattoria Italiana.
I was so surprised and taken aback that I teared up a little.
How lucky am I to have friends and a community that cares about me like this.
