A criminal complaint has been filed with the Lansing Police Department that the sexual molestation began more than a decade ago and continued until last year.

WOOD reported the alleged assaults began when the then 14-15-year-old girl attended Northern Michigan Baptist Bible Church and Northern Michigan Christian Academy near Burt Lake, about 60 miles northeast of Traverse City.

Lee Chatfield was a teacher and a coach at Northern Michigan Christian Academy as well as the athletic director from 2010 to 2014. Chatfield's dad is the pastor of the Northern Michigan Bible Church along with teaching at the academy and being the school superintendent.

The accuser is now 27-years-old but in an odd development uncovered by the Michigan State Police, she is also Chatfield's sister-in-law. The accuser said Chatfield molested her for 12 years with it ending in 2021.

The accuser's attorney, Jamie White, also represented dozens of women in the Larry Nassar sexual assault civil suits and currently represents men suing the University of Michigan over the alleged sexual abuse of Dr. Robert Anderson and former scouts suing Boy Scouts of America over alleged sexual abuse.

White says his team will not interfere with the MSP investigation but will be conducting an aggressive independent investigation.

The Detroit News reported, "We are very confident that between Michigan State Police and our independent investigation he's going to be held accountable," White Said. "This young woman is extremely terrified of what's coming forward for her as far as how the ex-speaker is going to respond. We're wrapping our arms around her to make sure she has tools to deal with this."

33-year-old Chatfield has yet to make any comment regarding the accusations.
