‘Game of Thrones’ Jaime Teases ‘Explosive’ Casterly Rock Scene in Season 7
We’re just over a week from Game of Thrones beginning its final descent, and we’ve got the Season 7 synopses to prove it. Even more wars will be fought, but is Nikolaj Coster-Waldau teasing another explosive upset for a Lannister landmark?
You’re warned of a few potential Season 7 spoilers from here on out (as well as Season 6), but where Joffrey and Cersei succeeded in utilizing “wildfire” to destroy their enemies, Jaime may not be so lucky. Coster-Waldau sent out a lighthearted, but eyebrow-raising Instagram photo of wine barrels that look an awful lot like the wildfire stores of Kings’ Landing.
Harmless enough on its own, and Coster-Waldau certainly meant to stoke speculation with his “explosive” tease, but most curious of all is the location tag of Casterly Rock, Westeros. We’ve never actually seen the Lannister stronghold for certain, though most trailers have suggested at least some Lannister installation facing Daenerys’ forces, to say nothing of those grim shots of Jaime making a last-ditch charge through a burning field:
Jaime himself got perhaps the most cryptic entry of the recent synopses, as Season 7’s third outing “The Queen’s Justice” promises “Jaime learns from his mistakes.” Then again, maybe Casterly Rock’s wine stores are merely just that, and being raided for some celebratory fireworks?
We’ll see how Jaime and Casterly Rock hold up when Game of Thrones premieres Sunday, July 16, but who else might be in for an explosive end?
