Suns out, guns out! A trio of area bodybuilders won Mr. Michigan titles over the weekend. Let's all flex in their honor.

John Pitsch III, who owns the Maximus gym in Grandville, won the National Physique Committee's Michigan state championship title in the Men's Open Heavyweight Division Saturday.

And he wasn't the only one from Maximus to take a title. Frank Green and J.P. Nguyen from Maximus also took home trophies. Green won first in both the 40+ and 45+ Men's Masters to earn his own Mr. Michigan nod, while Nguyen won Overall Open Men’s Physique.

The event, which qualifies the trio for the National Championships, took place at the Redford Theater in Detroit.

The National Championships will take place at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL on December 17 and 18th. All three men will be representing Michigan at that event.

Joe, Frank and J.P. are also headed to a Mr. Universe event on July 3 to try and earn their pro cards.

So what does it take to develop an award winning physique like John and his crew. A lot of hard work and dedication, as evidenced by this workout video he posted leading up to the Michigan championships. Yikes!

John is considered a legend on the local bodybuilding scene, having competed for years, and trained many pro card competitors as well. A few years back he finally acquired his own gym, so he can work out full time.

He is also a dedicated family man, whose family showed up this weekend in Detroit for support.

Congratulations and good luck to John and all three men in their quest for world domination!
