Grand Rapids Comic Con Now in Kalamazoo

In what multiverse, is Kalamazoo in Grand Rapids?

If you did not know, the Grand Rapids Comic-Con is on a "tour" and is moving to Kalamazoo.

The Grand Rapids Comic-Con Facebook page announced that its 'Spring Fling' event will be at the Kalamazoo Expo Center.

If you are worried that it is not coming back home to Grand Rapids, do not fret this decision is only for 2023.

Before its closure at the end of July, the event was typically held at the DeltaPlex.

Due to the construction job happening at DeVos Place, it would interfere with the scheduled date of April 14th - 16th of 2023.

The "X-Men: The Animated Series" cast reunion will still be taking place in November at DeVos Place.

With the move of the convention, here are my (not real, purely for entertainment) suggestions for places to have the convention in GR.

Calder Plaza

According to ExperienceGR.com, Calder Plaza

"hosts numerous large community events and "La Grand Vitesse," the Alexander Calder Stablie which symbolizes the City of Grand Rapids."

Rosa Parks Circle

According to the American Planning Association, in 2017, Rosa Parks Circle was named one of Five Great Public Spaces in America. Concerts are held outside at Rosa Parks Circle all the time. If Grand Rapids Comic Con was held outside, it would alleviate the stench associated with Comic Con.

I have never been to a comic con before, but I knew going into it that many people choose to wear very elaborate and detailed costumes and garb of their favorite pop culture icons. Whether it was from a Disney movie, an epic comic book, a live-play Dungeons and Dragons show, or somewhere in between, there were plenty of people who put their talent to use to create some awe-inspiring cosplay looks.
