If you're heading to downtown Grand Rapids this weekend, be prepared for some road closures. The 22nd Annual University of Michigan Health-West Grand Rapids Marathon will take place Sunday, October 19, 2025.

As with marathons in the past, this year's race will weave through the city of Grand Rapids, "providing our runners with a course that shows off our beautiful city, including Grand Rapids' West Side."

As is the case with any race of this magnitude, several streets around Grand Rapids will be closed during the Grand Rapids Marathon.

  • Winter Street between Lake Michigan Dr. and Watson - 7 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  • Fulton St. between Monroe and Seward - 7 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
  • Fulton St. between Mt. Vernon and Seward - 7 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  • Seward Ave. between Lake Michigan Dr. and Leonard - 7 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.
  • Leonard St. between Seward and Broadway - 7 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.
  • Broadway Ave. between Leonard and Sixth St. - 7 a.m. - 8:45 a.m.
  • Sixth St. between Broadway and Monroe - 7 a.m. - 8:45 a.m.
  • Monroe Ave. between Sixth and Fulton - 7:30 a.m. - 9 a.m.
  • Watson between Winter and Front - 7:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  • Front Ave. between Watson and Wealthy - 7:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  • Wealthy St. between Front and Garfield - 7:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.
