The year was 2000, we had all survived Y2K, "Thong Song" by Sisqo was weirdly popular, low-rise jeans were the only ones you could find in stores, and someone who attended Grand Rapids' Union High School lost their keys.

As of right now, we don't know who the lost keys belong to, but they were recently found in the "small gym" at the school.

A PE teacher at the school, Kristin, recently posted in the Grand Rapids Union High School Facebook group, that she discovered the keys after they fell from the ceiling of the gym.

An additional twist is that Kristin herself graduated from Union in 2000 and is curious about which of her classmates launched their keys into the rafters all those years ago. While Kristin knows for sure that the keys aren't hers, according to my research, there are at least 175 other potential owners. And back then, we all had that same keychain. (The 2000 one, not the Marlboro Country Store one.)

One commenter in the group suggested that the keys could belong to a former student-athlete.

But Kristin, it seems is still well-acquainted with the members of the 2000 Union volleyball squad, and says that none of them have claimed them.

Kristin's theory is that they likely didn't belong to a student-athlete at all.

I kinda feel it’s a PE student and not an athlete. - Kristin

Kristin is determined to find the owner, though, and plans to go down the list of all of the graduates from that year.

Of course, she wants to get the keys back to their rightful owner, but she's also super interested in hearing the story of how the keys ended up in the rafters in the first place (and so am I). (Editor's note - I was also able to confirm that the Union High class of 2000 class song was, in fact, "Graduation" by Vitamin C.)
