Ground Beef Recalled for Possible Plastic Contamination
Check your fridge and freezer!
According to a release from the United States Department of Agriculture approximately 2,020 pounds of raw ground beef products have been recalled for possible contamination with "extraneous materials, specifically clear, thin pliable plastic".
The items were produced at Amity Packing Company Inc. in Chicago on Jan. 6, 2020 and shipped to retailers in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
The following products are being recalled:
- 1-lb. VACUUM-PACKED, packages containing “Pre 95% LEAN/5% FAT GROUND BEEF” with lot code “0060,” case code “11402” and USE/FREEZE BY date of “01/31/2020” on the product label. Establishment number “EST. 6916” is printed on the right, front side of the package.

The Food Safety and Inspection Service says affected products should be thrown away or returned to point of purchase.
