I've seen this video making its rounds over the last couple of days, and finally had a chance to sit down and check it out this morning. I wasn't disappointed. This video tells the story of the Coronado High School Thunderbirds, and everyone's favorite member of their basketball team, Mitchell Marcus. Mitchell is the team's manager, and never expected to play, but when his coach gave him the opportunity, during the final minute and a half of a game, something incredible, and highly unexpected happened.

Now, the first amazing person in this story (other than Mitchell himself, who has a developmental disability) is his coach, Peter Morales. Coach Morales had told Mitchell to suit up for the game, and frankly, just that was enough for Mitchell. But, what no one knew, not even Mitchell, or his parents, was that Morales planned to put Mitchell in for the last few minutes of the game. No matter what. No matter the score. The coach was willing to lose that game if it meant that Mitchell got to play.

And play he did. Though no matter what Mitchell's teammates did to try and help him score in the game, Mitchell either missed the shot, or missed the ball completely when it was thrown to him (which is what happened on their last possession of the game). But then, something no one could have expected happened (you'll see it at about 1:53 in the video).

Jonathon Montanez, a senior for rival school Franklin High, did something that I don't think many other high school boys would do. When inbounding the ball, he yelled out Mitchell's name, and then threw the ball directly do him, allowing him one more shot, which he made.

When asked why he would do such a thing for a boy that he didn't even know, Jonathon told CBS News,

I was raised to treat others how you want to be treated. I just though Mitchell deserved his chance, deserved his opportunity.

Mitchell's mother, with tears in her eyes told CBS News,

I think I'll cry about it for the rest of my life.

Even though Coronado came out of the game with the most points, I think both teams win this one.
