High Wind Causes Power Outage Across West Michigan, Storms Expected Tonight
Sunday afternoon and evening brought high winds into much of West Michigan causing power outages across the area.
According to WOOD-TV 8, Consumers Energy expects more outages throughout the evening.
As of 7 p.m. Kent county has reported just under 12,000 outages, most around Kentwood, Grandville, Plainfield Township, and areas around 4 Mile Road, Dean Lake Avenue, 3 Mile Road and Plainfield Avenue.
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 2 a.m. for much of West Michigan. High winds seem to be the largest concern, though small hail is expected, and there is a possibility of an isolated tornado.
