Even though Tulip Time 2020 is canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, tulips are still blooming in Holland... however, the mayor is asking that we please stay away.

Mayor Nathan Bocks shared the message on The City of Holland's Facebook page. He talks about his personal history with Tulip Time, saying he loves the tulips and everything and everything that they bring, but he loves something else more-- the people of Holland:

"As the Mayor, my primary responsibility is for the health, safety, and welfare of the people of Holland, and I take that responsibility very seriously. For that reason, I am making a request that I never thought I'd have to make and hope I never have to make again. Please, do not come to Holland to see the tulips this year."

Bocks says safe social distancing is not possible at this time and Holland is not able to accommodate the extra visitors.

He promises that there will be future years to admire the tulips in Holland and to celebrate with the community safely.
