With cooler weather rolling in and the sun setting earlier each night, spooky season has officially arrived in West Michigan.

Lots of people are getting into the spirit by carving scary pumpkins and setting the outside on their front porches.
Others are heading out to haunted houses across West Michigan to pay a lot of money to have the crap scared out of them.

One West Michigan family who has a love for haunted houses wanted to share the fun with their fellow Michiganders and at the same time help them save their hard earned money by offering it for free.
The McDonald family from Grandville has created a free haunted house called The Hollow Manor for the community to enjoy.
Jorden McDonald and his wife Makenzie started this fun tradition because of their passion for Halloween and haunted houses, which began when Jorden was a kid.
The haunted house started three years ago, with a small setup in a garage, but it has grown into a full backyard haunted experience, including corn mazes, clowns, and ghosts.
The McDonald's put a lot of creativity, and effort into setting up the decorations each year with help from relatives and friends.
They even provide a non-scary route for little kids, indicated by glow sticks that signal actors not to frighten them.
That sounds like the route I would want to take too.
In the first year there were about 100 people that attended, with now nearly 800 in just two nights this year alone.
If you want to check out The Hollow Manor you can do so on weekends only, with Halloween weekend marking its final nights for the season.
Admission is free, but donations are welcome, every dollar goes right back into decorations for the next year’s haunt.
The Hollow Manor is located at 3989 Canal Ave SW, Grandville MI.
