Actually, it's not so hard to imagine, the technology is here!

So imagine this; no more potholes, no plows, no more salt, your car wouldn't be torn up after the winter, all because the roads are heated by the power of the sun.

Go even further; imagine roads being lit up with a warning that a deer is standing in the road ahead, traffic lights coming FROM the road. How cool is that?

The cool thing is that the Federal Highway Administration has funded a program for testing a phase II prototype, so we are getting closer to this becoming reality.

There's still a ton of work to be done, but it's interesting to follow!
