The International Fireworks Championship is set to return to Traverse City, Michigan, in September.

What is the International Fireworks Championship?

For the third year in a row, Traverse City will play host to the International Fireworks Championship. The event takes place over two days at Turtle Creek Events Center.

The event pits teams from around the world against each other as they showcase their very best pyrotechnic displays - all choreographed to music.

While this year's competitors have yet to be announced, in 2024 teams from the USA, Australia, Finland, India, Philippines, and the United Kingdom competed for the top prize.

How Do You Win the International Fireworks Championship?

Each night, an audience-voted winner is selected, and at the end of night two, a Judges' Choice Winner is announced.

Last year, Team Finland won the audience-vote top spot on night one, with this impressive display.

Team India took that title on night two.

These Fireworks Are Legal In Michigan

Though some of these fireworks may be banned in other states, these are the fireworks you can set off with no worries. Firework categories come from the Fireworks General FAQ document from the State of Michigan. Note: Display Fireworks need to be specially ordered are only allowed to be used by professionals and are not covered in this gallery.
