Ionia County Sheriff’s Department Warns Of Scam

Deputies are warning the community of a phone scam where people are being asked to send money to avoid being arrested.

A potential victim of this scam called the sheriff's office after receiving a call from someone claiming to be from the sheriff's department. The person on the phone told her she had to send $4,000 through her bank to avoid being arrested. Luckily, the woman who received the call didn't send any money.
