It’s beginning To Look A Lot Like A “Green” Christmas In Michigan
If you're dreaming of a white Christmas in Michigan this year, you might have to keep dreaming.
The Climate Prediction Center, a group of meteorologists and climatologists, is forecasting a very high probability of above-normal temperatures from December 19 through Christmas Day.
This means that we're likely to see temperatures in the mid to upper 40s, which is significantly warmer than the average high of 33°F usually experienced in Michigan during Christmas.
What does this mean for our chances of snow?
Well, with temperatures that warm, it's going to be difficult for any snow to accumulate, let alone stick around.
So, it's looking more and more like Michigan will be having a "green" Christmas this year.
This is quite a change from last year when we had a blizzard in West Michigan.
But weather can be unpredictable, and just because the odds are high for above-normal temperatures, it doesn't mean that every day will be warmer than our usual 37°F.
And it certainly doesn't mean that snow is completely out of the question.
However, the trend seems to be leaning towards a warmer and less snowy holiday season.
Regardless of if we have a white Christmas or a green Christmas, these are some great places where you can find a Christmas tree.
