For the second time, NBC's Dateline will explore the tragic murder of a Michigan woman.

Dateline first covered the homicide of  Ann Arbor singer and bartender Egypt Covington while the case was still ongoing back in 2021. Covington was well-known in the area for her voice and her previous employment at Fraser’s Pub in Ann Arbor.

In June of 2017, Covington was found dead from a gunshot wound to the back of her head at her home on Hull Road in Van Burn Township. According to reports, her hands had been bound with Christmas lights.

In court it would later come out that Covington's three accused killers were trying to rob her neighbor of marijuana when they murdered the 27-year-old.

Eventually all three of the men, Shane Lamar Evans, Timothy Eugene Moore, and Shandon Ray Groom, plead guilty and were sentenced to more than 15 years apiece.

According to MLive, a new two-hour episode of the of Dateline will cover the conclusion of case, including interviews with Covington's family and boyfriend, and Michigan State Police investigators who solved the case.

The episode will air at 9p.m. on March 22, 2024.

That's also the name of a seasonal beer Arbor Brewing company released in her honor. A portion of sales are donated to a foundation in her name to support charities related to music scholarship, animal welfare and victims of domestic abuse.
