Concert Are Expensive

Going to a concert has never cost more than it does right now in the history of the touring business. The price of tickets alone is about as much as it costs for a mini vacation.

If you are thirsty or hungry at a concert get ready because concert venues are getting as bad if not worse than movie theater concessions. I recently bought a pretzel and a regular-sized drink at a Grand Rapids venue and it was $24 and neither tasted as if they were worth half of that. You can get a whole meal for that at a restaurant for $24.

I am glad I don't drink because I couldn't afford to buy beer at a concert. Recently, attendees at a Jonas Brothers concert at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids vented about the $18 beer and seltzer prices on Reddit.  See what people had to say below.

Note that ecrane2018 said, "I paid less money for better food and drinks at Lambeau Field," and cco30 said, "(I'm a) Griffins season ticket holder here. Drinks are cheaper at SoFi and Ford Field." If that person who's a season ticket holder and has been to games at those venues they obviously have money and even they are complaining about Van Andel prices being too expensive.

Wow, $21 bucks for a double rum and Coke? Insane. Many people on the thread are making some sense about not paying the money. Eat and drink elsewhere before you get there. Some posters mention the high prices is to keep people from drinking too much and I have to disagree, the venue is only charging that much to make more money because there are drunks at every show.

Van Andel and other area venues better be careful not to price themselves out. Shows don't sell as many tickets anymore and ridiculously priced concessions will slow ticket sales as well...just ask movie theaters about it. What are venues going to do when concerts are streamed as pay-per-views like people stream movies?
