Neil DeGrasse Tyson Coming To Grand Rapids For Unique Appearance
Neil deGrasse Tyson is one of those people who you can't help but like, even if he did kill Pluto. On paper, an astrophysicist is usually someone who does all the cool, sciencey stuff away from public view. Yet, here we are, nearly 30 years into his career, and he and Bill Nye are still the guys people think of when it comes to science. He's made learning about the cosmos fun and approachable for millions.
Case in point: his upcoming show here in Grand Rapids, which isn't a lecture about space or some big-brain concept you need a degree to understand. Instead, he's hosting a show called An Astrophysicist Goes to the Movies Part II at the DeVos Performance Hall, for an hour and a half of ripping your favorite movies for getting their science wrong.

On October 5th, Tyson is hosting a movie night of sorts where he will "entertain and enlighteningly review all the science that our favorite movies got wrong, combined with some stuff they got right," according to the DeVos Performance Hall event page.

Essentially, you're going to have one of the brightest minds in the world talking movies all night, including The Wizard of Oz, A Bug's Life, and 2001: A Space Odyssey. As much as I'd love to hear him talk space, I am far more intrigued by a guy having a casual night talking movies from the angle of science only someone who actually understands science can.
This show is a sequel to his original An Astrophysicist Goes to the Movies tour he did in 2016. Tickets are on sale now. All in all, it's a random show idea, but it could be quite entertaining.
