After 14 years in business, downtown Grand Rapids is saying goodbye to one restaurant and hello to a new one.

Reserve Wine and Food first opened at 201 Monroe Ave. NW in September 2010.

Owned by the DeVos family, Reserve has more than 100 wines on tap with a custom-built Cruvinet system. The nitrogen pressurized preservation system is the second largest in the country.

Now, it's time for a change. Earlier this year, Reserve Wine and Food announced that the restaurant's last day in business will be May 2, 2024 and that the restaurant would reopen as a new concept later this year.

A post to social media called the news "bittersweet" and continued:

The renovation of the Lyon Square project has offered us the opportunity to rethink our space and our vision to bring you an entirely new concept at the end of this year.

The renovation of Lyon Square includes a covered river overlook, accessibility improvements, added greenspace, seating, snowmelt systems, space for weddings and other events.

Redevelopment and construction of the restaurant is ongoing and the for the new restaurant were recently announced!

Replacing Reserve Wine and Food is Allora, a "coastal Italian kitchen."

The owners say,

With a strong commitment to sustainability, an artful approach to cuisine, and a menu that evolves to showcase fresh, seasonal ingredients, we promise to bring a unique and inspiring dining experience to Grand Rapids. We are thankful to you for following us on this journey, and look forward to serving you in this next chapter.

The new restaurant is expected to open later this year.
