Took Over 500 Days In The Shelter For Dog to Get Adopted

It may have taken over 500 days in the Kent County Animal Shelter but this dog has been adopted and finally in a new home.

Most animal shelters but not all usually hold an animal for 4 to 6 six days before euthanizing. Many shelters will only have an animal for 72 hours if no one picks them up or adopts them they get euthanized. This is not the case for the Kent County Animal Shelter.

Does Kent County Animal Shelter euthanize animals? They do but it is usually at the pet owner's request because the dog is ancient or is unfixable if it was hit by a car or bad disease. The shelter charges $40 per pet. They also euthanize feral cats and dogs but hope to be a no-kill shelter by 2025.

Dog Spent Over 500 Days at Kent County Animal Shelter Before Being Adopted

Great news animal lovers, the dog in the picture above was adopted after spending over 500 days in KCAS. Toffee has been in her new home for a month and is doing well.

It looks like Toffee made a friend with Ted and looks pretty relaxed in her new home.

According to Toffee's new owner, "From the moment we first met Toffee, we loved her, it was easy to see that we weren't the only ones. With the whole team at KCAS believing in our girl, we knew then what we have seen since bringing her home."
