Wisconsin Is Stealing The Michigan Hand Map
Michiganders have been utilizing the Michigan hand map by pointing to the back of their left hand to show someone a location. Now Wisconsin is trying to steal it!
Michigan Hand Map
There is no doubt that Michigan looks like a left hand. Almost every Michigander has used their hand to show someone from a different state where something is located.

If you are wearing mittens or an oven mitt, it really looks like a map of Michigan's lower peninsula. Describing a location in the Upper Peninsula gets trickier because it takes two hands and you lose your pointer.
Michiganders know if you have a left hand you have a Michigan map handy.
If you are left-handed and that is where your pointer finger is, your right hand works well as a Michigan map. Regardless of which is your Michigan hand map, this is something I thought was exclusive to Michiganders. Other states are trying to steal our map.

Wisconsin Is Stealing The Michigan Hand Map
A Reddit user with the handle "Minute-Hovercraft220" made a post on the Michigan Reddit page that said, "Just watching 60 minutes from 10/27 and they were talking about Door County (Wisconsin). A couple of people either showed the map of Michigan that's on the back of every person's back left hand. Has anyone else heard this blasphemy from the left side of Lake Michigan?" This opened up a can of worms on Reddit.
This is not the first time Wisconsin has tried to steal from Michigan. The very first response to the thread came from Reddit poster "Common_Tiger1526" who said, "I don't know if anyone remembers this, but years ago they tried to call themselves The Mitten State as part of a winter tourism campaign. People were livid."
I can see how Wisconsin cheeseheads might think their state looks like a mitten of some freak hand but it is not as defined as a mitten as Michigan. I will say the Reddit thread is really funny and if you need a laugh to end your week click here and you will laugh.
Alert Michiganders: Watch for those folks in Ohio because some flip their left hands upside down to try and make a map of their state but we all know where they got the idea.
