The story of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League is one that we know all too well, yet it seems like we are always learning something new about this special time in baseball history. While the men went off to war, women from around the country gathered for 12 years to put on amazing professional baseball games that would be remembered for all time.

Michigan has a very important part in the story as Grand Rapids Chicks were able to secure the championship in 1947 and 1953 and our very own Kalamazoo Lassies took home the league's final championship in 1954. And the 80th anniversary of this league beginning, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum has unveiled a limited edition Kalamazoo Lassies All-American Girls Professional Baseball League Champions Series bobble-heads.

What's In The Series?

This is the first time anything like this has been done, and the series will also include four-time champion Rockford Peaches, and two-time chaps Racine Belles, who were the main focus in the 90s Tom Hanks film "A League of Their Own." The South Bend Blue Sox and the Milwaukee Chicks will also have commemorative bobbleheads as well.

How To Buy Them

Seeing as the league started in 1943, each Bobblehead is individually numbered to 1943 and they are only available through the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum‘s online store. The bobbleheads are $40 each plus shipping and the whole set can be purchased for $225. This is a really cool way to celebrate and commemorate the fact a Kalamazoo was able to secure the legendary league’s final championship.
