It is very possible that soon in Michigan we could see gas prices get over four dollars on. average.

There are many things that can influence fluctuating prices in gas, including the cost of crude oil, refining costs, distribution, and marketing, as well as taxes. But things like causing a disruption to the global supply, shifts in the demand for gas because of the season and a competitive local scene can make gas prices fluctuate from day to day.

But we’ve seen gas prices go from $2.50 to $3.50 and just a matter of weeks, which has some people worried that it’s going to continue to go up.

As of right now, according to AAA, Michigan’s average gas prices are higher than the national average gas price, with Kalamazoo, Branch, and Van Buren counties all with the highest averages in Southwest Michigan.

Strangely enough, it’s the more rural areas in Michigan that are seeing a higher price on average per gallon of gas, with Oscoda County having the highest average gas price of $3.69 per gallon. AAA reported the spike recently on their website:

The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline has jumped nearly 27 cents since last week to $3.25. The conflict in the Middle East has sent crude oil prices higher to the mid $70/barrel range. The recent increase puts the national average at the same price as it was in early April of 2025.

Obviously, with the war going on in Iran, many people are concerned that gas prices will continue to skyrocket compared to where they were just a few months ago.
