Support BIPOC Entrepreneurs & More At Grand Rapids Book•ish Fair
As a book lover, I am on board for this event to come back this year!
If you are a fan of reading books, vibing with your community, or you want to support local entrepenuers and a local nonprofit, there is an event perfectly set for you.
Have you heard of the Book•ish Book Fair?
Book•ish Book Fair 2024
This Sunday, July 14th from 12:00 PM to 3:00PM, the second annual Book•ish Book Fair is happening at the Center for Community Transformation.
It is giving an adult Scholastic book fair but highlighting women and men of color! How amazing is that?!
All of the books that will be available for purchase will be:
- provided by We Are Lit GR, which is an independent multicultural bookshop,
- written by BIPOC authors.
Besides leaving with a bunch of books, you can come just for the vibes! One of my favorite DJs in Grand Rapids, VenusFlyytrap is curating the vibes.
"From the thoughtful selection of books, to the vendors, to the energy all around, Book•ish is the perfect way to spend your Sunday in Grand Rapids! It's my second year spinning, I can't wait to provide the vibes."
There will be live performances, live painting, a brunch/mimosa bar and so much more to experience.
Plus, this event gets even better because they are also supporting a local nonprofit and creating a community fund.
All procceeds from Book•ish will benefit a local nonprofit: The Girl's Choral Academy. This organization strives to help "irls grow into self assured young women who speak as confidently as they sing."
As for the community fund, the creator of Book•ish, NyeNye Aririguzo, wanted to make the event more accessible. She is doing that and more!
The community fund is a pot of money that community members who come to Book•ish can pull from to buy books.
So, why would you not reserve a ticket now? Grab a free ticket on Eventbrite.
