It's official. According to an article from, Jerry Lewis will step down from hosting the Labor Day weekend Muscular Dystrophy Association telethon this year. He's been hosting the telethon for 45 years.

I can't remember a single Labor Day weekend without the telethon in my entire life. When I was younger, it was fun to watch. Lots of entertainment, etc. As I got older, I was simply irritated that it was interrupting my regularly scheduled programming.

Looks like the telethon is also making some changes. Instead of airing for 21 1/2 hours as it has in the past, it will air for a mere 6 hours. It will air only from 6p.m. until midnight in all time zones.
