Kent County Recycling Center Reopening on Monday

It's the return of recycling in Kent County!

If your recycling has been piling up, some good news... the Kent County Recycling Center is finally reopening on Monday, May 4th. The Recycling & Education Center on Wealthy St. along with the North Kent Recycling & Waste Center in Rockford will both reopen and accept residential recycling.

The recycling center has been closed since March 27 to reduce the risk of COVID-19. In a press release from the Kent County Department of Public Works (DPW) they say they've put in measures since the closure to ensure safety.

...such as prescreening workers, increased cleaning frequency at work stations, staggering work stations to meet social distancing rules and increased personal protective gear to keep the recycling center’s 40 workers safe as they come back to work.

Anyone who's been saving their recycling is asked to start putting it out at the curb as soon as possible.

The Kent County DPW is also asking for photo submissions from anyone who has been stockpiling their recyclables "...and now have overflowing garages." You can e-mail the picture(s) to recycle@kentcountymi.gov or post to social media with the hashtag #ReturnOfRecycling
