I'm a southern transplant who loves living in Michigan. But, nothing makes me happier than when one of my favorites from "home" makes it way to the mitten state.

That's why I lost my mind when they announced at the end of last year that Michigan would be getting more Raising Cane's locations, including a few right here in West Michigan.

If you're not familiar with the southern fast food chain with a very simple menu, you're in for a treat. They're known for only having a few items on their menu (and the world's best dipping sauce)

When is Raising Cane's coming to Grand Rapids?

The Grand Rapids metro will see it's first Raising Cane's location in Kentwood in the home of the old Outback Steakhouse. It's set to open in December of this year.

According to information from a Kentwood zoning meeting, the location not only will be open later this year- they will also add two drive thrus to the building, and additional bushes and landscaping. The location will be slightly smaller than outback was for this reason, but only by a few hundred feet.

They just started demolition this week, so if you're driving through the area, you may spot them putting in all the hard work it will take that building from down under to down bad for chicken. And I cannot wait to see (and taste) the final product.
