Lakeshore Businesses NOW HIRING!
Just like the rest of the country, businesses by the lake are having a hard time finding employees. This is especially true for companies looking for seasonal help.
Despite the unemployment rate declining in Michigan, the Michigan West Coast Chamber of Commerce says its members are facing a tough hurdle meeting the workforce needs.
Jane Clark, president of the Michigan West Coast Chamber of Commerce, there are several factors at play. She told WZZM,
"They have to be very creative these days and so that may be signing bonuses, recruit friend campaigns, looking for employees in different places, and it may even be adjusting their hours so they can balance their business needs with workforce availability."
To entice new employees this summer, some businesses are offering incentives. Clark said she believes it will be a great summer for businesses economically as long as they can staff shifts.
