22-year-old Grant Jacob Taylor has been charged with murder in the death of Lansing firefighter Dennis Rodeman.

Taylor was arraigned Thursday afternoon and also faces charges of failing to stop at the scene of a personal injury accident causing death, and two counts of fleeing and eluding.

Rodeman passed away after being hit by a truck while collecting donations for the annual Fill the Boot fundraiser.

There was an exchange of words between Taylor and Rodeman had some sort of altercation before Taylor drove away, only to turn around and hit Rodeman. He then fled the scene.

The Lansing State Journal reports that police believe Taylor deliberately hit Rodeman.

Rodeman had been with the Lansing Fire Department for seven years after a tour of duty in Iraq with the U.S. Marine Corps. He married his wife in June and she is currently pregnant with their first child.
