Mac Miller’s Alleged Drug Dealer Charged in Connection With His Death
A man has been arrested after allegedly selling Mac Miller counterfeit pills two days before his death.
NBC News reports federal prosecutors have charged Cameron James Pettit in connection with the death of the rapper, who was found dead of a drug overdose nearly a year ago. He was only 26.
According to a 42-page criminal complaint, Miller texted Pettit asking for "percs," which is the slang term for the oxycodone heavy painkiller, Percocet. Instead, he supplied him with “counterfeit oxycodone pills that contained fentanyl — a powerful synthetic opioid that is 50 times more potent than heroin.”
The documents also show Instagram messages Pettit sent to his friends after Miller's death, writing, “Most likely I will die in jail,” and “I think I should probably not post anything … just to be smart.” In other messages, he tells his friend, “Nothing has happened yet…but it might" before revealing he was thinking of moving to another country.
Though the 28-year-old only been charged with providing the drugs, not with having a direct role in Miller’s deadly overdose, Pettit could face up to 20 years in federal prison.
