High-Speed Chase Ensues After Man Skips a $4 Mackinac Bridge Toll
A Northern Michigan man is facing some big charges after he refused to pay a $4 bridge toll.

In the early hours of Tuesday, August 12th a 21 year old Michigan man went through the southbound Mackinac Bridge toll booth and didn't pay the $4 bridge toll.
A Mackinaw City Police officer noticed the man traveling at a high rate of speed as he got off the bridge and attempted to pull the man over.
Despite the flashing lights, the man took off and turned onto US-23.
During the chase, which went through speed zones and construction zones, he reached dangerous speeds in excess of 110 mph.
Just when it looked like the high-speed chase was finally done the man did a U-turn and ran into the police cruiser before speeding off again.

Not long after, he finally pulled over and was arrested and taken to the Cheboygan County Jail.
It's unknown why the man decided to skip the $4 bridge toll, but his actions are going to cost him a lot more money.
He's expected to face multiple charges that include:
- Third-degree fleeing and eluding
- Reckless driving
- Malicious destruction of property from running into the police car
- Failure to pay a toll
- Speeding

I'm trying to understand why the man would skip the bridge toll and lead police on a high-speed chase.
I'm no financial expert, but I'm pretty sure when his court fines and attorney fees are added up, it's gonna cost a lot more than the $4 he didn't pay.
