Mackinac Island Opening Its First Ever Brewery & Distillery
Mackinac Island has so much to offer... it's what I consider a "Michigan-must", and now there's even more reason to visit.
On June 12, Mackinac Island will be opening Great Turtle Brewery & Distillery, a first for the island. According to WXYZ Detroit,
Great Turtle Brewery and Distillery will offer custom craft beer, spirits and food in an upscale brewery atmosphere located right on Main Street.
A former Italian restaurant was transformed into the brewery. Since brewing is not possible on the island, Great Turtle is getting its beer brewed by Right Brain Brewery in Traverse City & its spirits from Les Cheneaux Distillery in the U.P.
Now, the most important... the food, duh! Great Turtle offers an extensive lunch and dinner menu consisting of classic dishes such as a burger and signature dishes like their beer cheese flight. Honestly, everything sounds sooo delicious I wouldn't even know what to choose cuz there's so many tasty-sounding options!
As far as safety goes, Great Turtle's chef told WXYZ that all employees will be given a screening each day before work and all servers and cooks will be required to wear masks. Capacity will also be limited to social distancing and menus will be available digitally.
Great Turtle's website states that they will be open May through October every year.
After a rough start to the year, a trip to Mackinac Island for food, beer, and bike rides sounds like a perfect summer day.
