Have You Tried Wine From The Michigan Vineyard That Madonna’s Family Owns?

Madonna has been a household name for over 40 years because of her catchy songs, incredible outfits, and at times, outlandish antics.

We all remember her rolling around on the floor during the VMAs to her hit song "Like A Virgin"

And maybe you jammed to her song on the Austin Powers soundtrack

But her music isn't the only thing that is keeping her family happy and busy. In fact, they have their own family business right here in the mitten state.

If you didn't know, Madonna was born in Bay City Michigan in 1958. And while she no longer lives her, Madonna's Father, Silvio Anthony "Tony" Ciccone, stayed here and opened his own business after she found her success

Tony is now the owner of Ciccone Vineyards, which is located just minutes north of Traverse City.

Ciccone Vineyards was founded in 1995, and they were one of the first 10 vineyards in the county.

It was an easy decision to put their vineyard there even though her family had a long history of vineyards in other states like Michigan. Her father said this about the land when he found it to establish the vineyard in 1995...

I saw the hills, the barn, the house and realized most of my work was done except to plant the vines and create a winery, and that’s what I did.

And when you see the grounds, you'll fully understand why the beauty of northern Michigan kept them close to home. Even Madonna's sister and parents work around the vineyard to this day!

If you'd like to visit and see it for yourself, the wine tasting room is open several days a week. They also offer live music and events  on Thursday & Sunday evenings during the summer months, which you can see on their events calendar.

So if you're planning to do some wine tours this summer or fall, if you're a music and wine lover, this one has to make your list.
