What vehicles are impacted by the GM recall issued in November 2022?

The vehicles involved in the recall are some of the most popular large SUVs on the market. The recall includes 2021 models of the Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon, & Caddilac Escalade.

Why are 2021 Tahoes, Suburbans, Yukons, & Escalades being recalled?

The recall, issued by the Nation Highway Traffic & Safety Administration, states that daytime running lights may not shut off when the normal headlights are engaged.

Is there a safety issue with GM's recalled large SUVs?

If the daytime running lights remain on in conjunction with the nighttime headlights, the glare could cause glare for other drivers, reduce visibility, and increase the chance of an accident.

The daytime running lights (DRLs) may not deactivate when the headlights are on. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

How many recalls do these vehicles have?

This latest recall puts some Tahoe models into the 'red zone' with the NHTSA as it has racked up a dozen recalls since its release in late 2020.

Some Escalade models have had 11 recalls since that date, some models of the 2021 GMC Yukon have ten recalls, and certain 2021 Chevy Suburbans have nine recalls.

How can I find out which recalls my GM SUV has?

You can enter your make, model, and year on the NHTSA website for recalls. You can also use your VIN to find recalls for your specific model.

How can I get service for my recalled vehicle?

Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-888-988-7267, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is N222382220.
